“The idea came from Sharon, then Federica made us dive into the lake, and Irene began to conduct the orchestra of words and verses that populate our days as readers, lovers of stories and places, clouds and marshes. And then we found companions and fellow travelers, whom we thank. First of all LIPU with Leo, then Selene and Christian who brought Massaciuccoli to Venice — to the last Venice Architecture Biennale, and Chiara and Enzo, with their sensitivity that touches everything with a sound.”
LIMO
Limo traces the edges of the Tuscan lake of Massaciuccoli and bears witness to the state of neglect and decay that marks many of its parts and urban environments. The choice of this territory for this photographic research stems from the possibility to act on proximity, to observe with a privileged lens — that of closeness and belonging — the local variations of the widespread neglect towards the environment and the consequences deriving from careless or ineffective territorial policies. Specifically in Massaciuccoli, eutrophication phenomena have caused, especially since the second half of the last century, a significant deterioration of water quality, the disappearance of almost all submerged vegetation, and the entire biological community of the lake. The ones suffering most from pollution and degradation of the aquatic ecosystem were mainly the fish, and thus the community of Massaciuccoli for whom fishing was for a long time one of the main economic activities. The photographs are the result of intertwined relationships with people and places, in the effort to investigate the ordinary and recognize the constant commitment of those who actively live in the territory and act in an attempt to protect and care for it.
We had our legs intertwined, arms knotted
and our eyes greased with cirrus clouds
and the muscular flight of mallards
and that light which sometimes too cheerful
mortifies us because it reminds us that.
I told you this is the famous lake of Giangiacomo
of musical airs that greatly made
the name of the Italic homeland
known around the world.
The fishermen’s lake that knows better than you.
They have the giant carp on the hook.
And a tench for a lover
beautiful as a mermaid.
The lake of Tzè-Palù. The lake at night
like in a Maupassant story.
Not recommended.

Clemente–Pardini is a duo founded in Pietrasanta (LU) in 2022 by Maria Selene Clemente (Cagliari, 1991) and Christian Pardini (Pietrasanta, 1987). Maria Selene is an independent journalist focusing on Africa and the Middle East, where she lived and worked for six years. Christian is an independent graphic designer and photographer with a background in industrial design. Together they develop photographic projects — both personal and commissioned — through a documentary approach that explores landscape in its social and environmental dimensions. Clemente-Pardini’s work has been exhibited at the Landscape Documentation and Narrative Festival in Cuneo, at the Studio Marangoni Foundation in Florence, at FMAV – Modena Visual Arts Foundation, and in other group exhibitions. Their photographs have been published in magazines such as L’Espresso and Perimetro. In 2023 they received a special mention at the Urbanautica Institute Awards and in 2024 they were invited to hold a workshop within the Landscape Representation course at the Faculty of Architecture, Sapienza University of Rome. In 2025 their work was selected for the Italy Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.
SOUNDS IN NATURE
Connecting with the elements that compose the soundscape, we dialogue with them.
Through unusual instruments, we summon them, amplifying them until they become almost tangible.
The sounds merge, inviting participants to tune into them for a deep sensory immersion.
