Artedimarte: A School, Almost

artedimarte

Many great ideas — from mere culinary twists to the most heartfelt revolutions — have been conceived from a couch. We at S.O.F.A. know this well, as we bear the name of our own ἀρχή [archè]. Walks taken on the edge of the floor, periodically swept by alcoholic tides and a fickle breeze that tingles, strikes, or drops, depending on the mood. That’s not the mystery.

And yet, there is a mystery.

S.O.F.A. has a new couch — bigger, more exposed. Smooth to the touch, and to the slip of the word. Wine may spill on it, conversation may tangle in its dunes: it will embrace change without bearing its mark.
It is a periodic couch, a night-blooming beauty. On certain Tuesdays, it fills with basslines and scattered guitars, like an old secret garage. A jam session, a primordial soup.
“Where?” you’ll ask. And there lies the riddle to preserve. Better to ask how. Well, our couch moves with the tides: its choice is random, its change constant. Its invitation may find you anywhere, this month or the next. You’ll bring company, for there are no single seats; you’ll bring the artist you love, the third guest. When? Who knows — stay tuned.

Arte dì marte is S.O.F.A.’s new couch: Tuesday gatherings, once a month, around a work of art, an aperitif, and some people.
Whoever chooses the artwork moderates the meeting.
The invitation is random, and invitees are asked to bring someone else.
What kind of artwork? From the world of visual and performing arts.
From which period? Whichever you like.
Do you need to be an expert? No — but it’s a chance to study a bit, to share what you know about the work you propose.

The idea came from Sharon, then Federica made us dive into the lake, and Irene began to conduct the orchestra of words and verses that populate our days as readers, lovers of stories and places, clouds and marshes. And then we found companions and fellow travelers, whom we thank. First of all LIPU with Leo, then Selene and Christian who brought Massaciuccoli to Venice — to the last Venice Architecture Biennale, and Chiara and Enzo, with their sensitivity that touches everything with a sound.
